**About New Zealand Blood Service**
New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) has sole responsibility for collecting, processing and distributing blood in New Zealand. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives through our blood, blood products and other services. At the end of the day, you know that you have contributed in some way to making a difference in someone's life.
Our shared values are at the heart of our organisation's culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. They inspire us, motivate us and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.
It's a great time to join NZBS - we have experienced a significant amount of growth in recent years which has required us to look at the structure of the Nurse Education team. The implementation of this role is one of the results of this change.
NZBS currently employs around 400 Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and Donor Technicians who work across New Zealand, primarily working at fixed and mobile blood and plasma collection sites, however teams of specialised nurses also carry out therapeutic procedures for patients at some NZBS locations.
**About the role**
This is an exciting new opportunity to lead a national team of Nurse Educators in a unique part of the New Zealand health sector. This team is responsible for clinical education curriculum development and delivery in partnership with Clinical and Workforce Coaches. Education covers induction training; Donor Technician education and assessment; legislative requirements including the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Reporting to the Director Donor Services, you will be part of a Senior Leadership Team focused on ensuring New Zealand has a continual supply of blood, plasma, and other related products.
You will be responsible for:
- Training and assessment, curriculum and content for Collections Teams
- Training delivery through both the team and network of Clinical Coaches and Workforce Coaches
- Building the team
- Supporting the Donor Services leadership team.
- Developing professional development opportunities for Collections Teams including specialty nursing teams
- Implementing Clinical Governance initiatives
