**Te āhua o Te Tūrunga - The nature of the role**
The Business Risk & Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting the first line of defence activities within the Business Group by maintaining oversight of end to end risk management and tools focused on assurance and compliance.
A key focus of this role is to provide risk management leadership and advice, guidance and support by engaging with key people within the programme of work to facilitate the identification of risks, and co-ordinate effective risk management practices and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
Equally important is the need to be seen as an objective and ‘critical friend’ at the Leadership table and to the Executive Lead. The role also reports to the Manager Group Risk & Compliance and works closely and collaboratively with the Risk & Compliance Office which acts as a centre of excellence for risk management and compliance at ACC.
**Key activities will include**:
- Facilitate robust discussions within the programme leadership team concerning systemic or material risks and a four year horizon risk perspective in relation to the programmes objectives.
- Support the programme by coordinating the Risk Representatives for Risk and Quality in each business unit, and help to analyse the nature of each identified risk, its likelihood to occur and the impact to the business should it materialise.
- Support the programme by delivering and leading risk assessment workshops within individual units.
- Assist with the identification of risks and their subsequent documentation that includes analysis,
- causes, controls, and assessments to determine appropriate mitigations/treatments.
- Build assurance processes to ensure identified risks (including compliance risks) are managed.
- Participate in and represent the programme in organisational risk and compliance management forums.
**Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako - Skills & Experience Required**
- Strong working knowledge of current risk and compliance management standards.
- Extensive experience in a similar role with proven performance and results
- Self-management including the ability to manage own time, identify priorities and demonstrate good problem solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to influence without having direct authority
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation
- Strong ability to document complex information in plain English
