Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council) serves the Waikato District which covers more than 400,000 hectares (418.893ha). The district is rich in natural resources, wilderness reserves, natural resources, native bush reserves, lush farmland and stunning west coast beaches.
Our Head office is based in Ngaaruawaahia, just 10 minutes North of Hamilton, so with no traffic or parking issues, your journey to and from work is stress free.

**About this role**:
- A rare and exciting new opportunity for a role in our Strategy & Corporate Planning team has come about and we are excited to offer you the chance to be part of not only this great team working across our district, but also a great organisation. This newly established role will be responsible for leading change and implementing the strategic vision that has been set out through a recent Refocus project of the Strategy & Growth Group.
**LIST THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES HERE**
**What I do?**
- You will lead the development and monitoring of strategies, policies, bylaws, as well as corporate planning and reporting.
- You will provide strategic, tactical, and leadership thinking to the organisation across a wide range of planned and reactive issues.
- Oversee the successful delivery of the policy and bylaw review roadmaps.
- You will ensure the successful implementation and outcomes of the Strategic Planning Framework.
- Oversee the successful delivery of all team functions, including Strategy, Policy, and Corporate Planning, with a focus on the Long-Term Plan.
- Be a member of Strategy & Growth's leadership team.
**What I bring?**
- You will have a track record of proven experience in providing strategic and tactical leadership within a complex organisational environment, preferably in a governmental or public sector context.
- You have In-depth understanding of local government systems and processes, including strategic planning, policy development, and bylaw implementation.
- You are a team player and have great people skills.
- A commitment to Zero Harm and keeping yourself and others in the workplace safe.
