**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, Taranaki is seeking an Occupational Therapist to work within a mutli-disciplinary team with children and young people aged 3-15, diagnosed with, or at risk of developing, a developmental or physical disability.

The Child Therapy Team is based at the Child and Adolescent Community Centre (CACC) at Taranaki Base Hospital. The team provide individual or group appointments, and social activities at CACC and Hawera Hospital but also travel across Taranaki to provide care to children and families, in their homes, early childhood and school facilities.

The role of an Occupational Therapist:

- To work with children aged 3 to 16 years with a diagnosed disability or at risk of developing a disability which will last longer than 6 months.
- To provide therapy to children individually or as part of a group.
- To identify and support housing modifications and equipment for children and families and work with Enable NZ funding.
- To work closely with Paediatricians and Speech Language Therapist to complete autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments,
- To work closely and in a coordinated manner with all members of the MDT when working with children, young people, and their families when there are complex health needs.

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who has experience of or a passion/desire to work with children and young people and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Do you have experience of working in paediatrics or transferable skills from working with adults and experience in housing modifications and equipment?

You will need to have Occupational Therapy Registration and a current APC.

You will need to be eligible to work in NZ.

You will need to have the ability to undertake assessments and work collaboratively with others to provide integrated care.

You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have community knowledge and/or networking skills.
