Mō te tūnga | About the role
The purpose of Te Tari Pūreke, Firearms Safety Authority business unit is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. Established to lead, operate, and develop investment in modernisation of the firearms system, which will result in a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, introduction of comprehensive performance indicators, and shall improve public confidence in the firearms licensing system. The modernisation of the Arms Regulatory System will take every opportunity to prevent harm through transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities, administration, education, and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.

The Regulator will earn trust and confidence by working together in partnership with other policing groups, iwi, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.

The Digital Product Analyst will provide internal and external user support, while ensuring the on-going maintenance of the Registry system. You will need the ability to work in a highly collaborative way with a facilitative working style.
You will need to be able to demonstrate superior initiative as you make support system improvements and meet road-mapping and writing system requirements and manage and support data quality and integrity within the Registry system. You will work alongside the Digital Product Business Relationship Manager or delegate to constantly improve our ways of working, practices and tools.

You will support tickets through prioritisation, escalation, and tracking, be responsible for managing system outages and conduct user-acceptance testing.
Assist with system administration tasks as required ensuring data and system are updated where appropriate
You will communicate the technical specifications to downstream resources within the systems development lifecycle (developers, testers, training and support staff) and carry out gap analysis between new business requirements and existing systems.
You will need to be customer focussed, ensuring the resolution of issues meets or exceeds agreed service levels.
A key part of this role is also assisting in the development of contracts for services with external suppliers, vendors, distributors and service providers.

- Conveys information in a way that provides a clear sense of direction to others.
- Writes and presents clear, concise, thoroughly researched communications appropriate to the audience.
- Ensures appropriate strategies and policies are in place in their Practice Area to meet performance measures such as improving accuracy of estimation of detailed design effort and traceability of technical solution design to business requirements.
- Contribute to environmental scanning within their speciality/practice, continuously identifying, evaluating and analysing present and future requirements of users, technology risks, and worldwide development trends and recommending the most suitable cost-effective plans to incorporate into firearms operations and development.
- Assist in the development of contracts for services with external suppliers, vendors, distributors and service providers.
- Demonstrate commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, Māori and other communities and cultures.

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualification with a degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- SCRUM certification or Product Owner certification is a bonus.
- Applicants need to be New Zealand Permanent Residents

**Pre-Employment Checks**:

- A standard vetting check is required.
- Drug & Alcohol test

**Experience is to include**:

- 5 to 10 years in a Senior Analyst role.
- Strong preference for UX experience.
- Strong JIRA or other ticket management experience (setting up boards, filters, reporting, etc).
