Overview:
Work with the Bureau Chief and other Wellington staff to organise newsroom, and contribute to news gathering such as conducting interviews, research, identifying stories, making camera and live bookings and taking calls from other bureaus and the general public

**Responsibilities**:

- Organise camera bookings on a daily basis and assist with forward planning for news coverage
- Conduct interviews on behalf of other staff
- Take calls from other Newshub bureaus or the general public and respond as promptly as possible
- Assist in writing VOs and shorter stories when possible
- Assist in the production of stories especially when reporters are in the field
- Work with bureau chief and other staff to ensure news events are in the calendar and coverage is planned in advance
- The Employee shall ensure they are familiar with the Employer's health and safety policies and procedures, and any modifications to those policies and procedures that may be introduced from time to time.
- Carry out your work safely and without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.
- Other duties as required.
- The Company may, after fair and reasonable consultation, change your duties,from time to time, for commercial reasons but not so as to substantially change the nature of the position.

Qualifications:

- Good editorial judgement.
- Have regard for the requirements of the Broadcasting Act and the laws relating to libel and defamation and the invasion of privacy.
- Good practical skills in use of news systems and software for newsgathering and production
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts and hours when required.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
- A generous team member who appreciates individual and business successes.
- Close attention to detail.
- Continually seeks opportunities to improve content and production.
- Maintains excellent collaborative and professional relationships with the news team, wider newsroom and broader business
