Pou Ārahi contributes to the successful delivery outcomes for whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori organisations in Services Delivery and Operations. We do this by providing cultural advice, support, and leading key Te Aka Taiwhenua initiatives to build capability across the Branch in honouring the Māori Crown relationship and contributing to our broader organisational outcomes.
Kāwai ki te Iwi - Service Delivery and Operations (SDO) is one of DIA's most public facing branches providing customers with a wide variety of products and advice with a genuine commitment to Māori Crown partnerships.
As a member of the SDO Leadership Team the Director Pou Ārahi is responsible for the successful service delivery outcomes for whānau, hapū, iwi, and Māori organisations and improving capability, service delivery and relationships across SDO and DIA.
Along with significant leadership experience, the successful applicant will have:
- Advanced skills in Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori.
- In-depth knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles.
- Current developments in the Treaty debate and understanding of the Crown's obligations.
- Excellent facilitation skills.
- Community development principles.
- Public sector management frameworks and processes.
- Commitment to the overall goals and objectives of New Zealand public services, including partnership with Māori in the context of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Well established networks with Māori organisations, whānau, hapū and iwi.
