The Ministry for Primary Industries are looking for a Senior Compliance Officer to join our Forestry & Land Management directorate as part of our wider Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service business unit based in Wellington.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to undertake compliance analysis to determine if Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) participants have complied with their ETS obligations.
As a senior member of the team, you will also provide guidance and support to other Compliance team members.

**Your key deliverables for this role will include**:

- Liaising with forestry consultants, forest owners, and inventory providers to resolve various matters
- Managing high value and high-profile compliance cases
- Act as the point of contact for compliance advice and participating in cross-agency compliance discussions
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of operational policies and processes around ETS
- Verifying the accuracy of emissions returns under the ETS

You will have strong experience in gathering, organising, analysing, and communicating information, including the ability to quickly understand problems, identify a range of possible solutions, and then provide advice.
Importantly, you will have excellent analytical and communication skills with the confidence to offer guidance and information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will have the ability to not only work independently, but also collaboratively as part of the wider team.
