**About the role**
We currently have an exciting opportunity within the National Security Group to recruit a Senior Intelligence analyst to join our team. This person will take on a new and exciting role as a key contributor towards the ongoing design, delivery and implementation of a significant piece of multi-agency work focusing on disengagement, which New Zealand Police are leading on behalf of the government, ‘He Aranga Ake’.
This position would suit an experienced intelligence professional wanting to work in a dynamic environment. In this role you will be instrumental in the design and delivery of He Aranga Ake and once implemented provide influential leadership across government around policy, response, and prevention opportunities. The role will sit within the Counter Terrorism Prevention Team which leads the development and coordination of prevention strategies, initiatives and activities which support the wider investigation work of the National Security Group.
The National Security Group is responsible for investigating threats to New Zealand’s National Security working collaboratively to mitigate those threats through gathering intelligence and evidence and utilising that information to make informed decisions around prevention, disruption, or prosecution to mitigate existing or emerging threats.
In additional to the wider skills you will hold at this level, the team is also looking for someone who is agile, able to contribute to wider system design (including case management), an effective communicator and able to perform core administration functions for He Aranga Ake.
As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will use analytic tools and methodology to provide insight and foresight on a complex problem and issues aligned to NZ Police ‘Our Business’. You will communicate this through reporting and effective relationships with clients of intelligence, both within New Zealand and abroad. You will coach others contributing to He Aranga Ake’s development and effectiveness and foster a positive and productive culture.
A key function is working collaboratively with Police Districts and key Government Partners to produce effective outcomes. This is an exciting and challenging role in a key area for NZ Police and the wider NZ government.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership and support to the Multi-Agency Coordination and Implementation Project overseeing the design, development, and delivery of ‘He Aranga Ake’ which Police lead on behalf of the Government
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop a high standard of written reports/presentations and provide clear and concise verbal briefings appropriate to a range of audiences
- Contribute to and coordinate the development and implementation of prevention plans, projects, and initiatives
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners including whole of government agencies and other specialist community groups and organisations
- Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
- Work with limited supervision on complex analytical problems
- Provide technical guidance in Intelligence analysis tools and coach members of the He Aranga Ake team to develop their Intelligence tradecraft.
- Deliver positive leadership and influence in delivering Our Business to support and environment of high performance using the PHPF framework
- Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products

- _Hold the NZ Diploma in Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) or equivalent or able to complete NZDIA modules early in employment_
