Work is to be carried out in the Infection & Immunity laboratory within the Department of Molecular Medicine & Pathology (Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences).
The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences is a large and diverse faculty with more than 4,000 students studying across our six schools, led by world-leading researchers and lecturers. Our Grafton Campus is situated opposite Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s largest hospital, on the doorstep of Pukekawa Auckland Domain.
**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
The position is for a Research Technician to provide technical and administrative support for research projects funded by the Royal Society of New Zealand (Marsden grant) and the Auckland Medical Research Foundation. The projects focus on the development of a vaccine against Group A Streptococcus, a bacterium that is responsible for a variety of diseases including pharyngitis, skin and soft tissue infections and acute rheumatic fever.
The position involves laboratory-based research including work with small animals and laboratory management responsibilities including, ordering of consumables and finance reports.
This is a **fulltime** (**37.5 hours per week**), **fixed term** (up to 36 months) position. The salary range for this role is between $62,400- $77,800 dependent on skills and experience.

We are looking for someone with experience in **gel electrophoresis, ELISA and flow cytometry** and the following skills and experience:
**Knowledge and Skills**
**Essential**:
- MSc or equivalent in biomedical sciences
- Experience in work with small animals and standard microbiology/immunology techniques
**Preferred**:
- The degree should be in Microbiology, Immunology or infectious diseases
- Experience in bacterial cultures
