Produce Operations Manager

**The role**:
As the **Operations Manager of our Produce Division** you will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Fresh Produce and Prepared produce units. You will also be responsible of a team of dedicated staff, providing guidance, training and support to ensure optimal performance.

- Location: Thomas Neal Crescent, Trentham, Upper Hutt
- 40 hours, 5 days per week
- Pay: $65,000 - $75,000 gross pa

**The job**:
You will be responsible for developing and implementing operational strategies, overseeing warehousing and distribution, ensuring quality control, monitoring and reporting on performance and assisting with procurement.

Some of the key responsibilities include
- Develop and implement operational strategies to ensure the efficient and effective production of produce
- Oversee the warehousing and distribution of produce, ensuring that it is stored and transported safely and efficiently
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure that all produce meets the company's high standards
- Monitor and report on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement
- Assist with procurement of produce from suppliers, ensuring that all produce is of the highest quality and meets customer specifications
- Purchasing of packaging, chemicals and bulk produce lines for Prepared produce operations
- Management of warehouse, fleet and dispatch teams
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall operational efficiency and cross-functional communication.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the produce sector.

**The person**:
You will have a tertiary qualification in Operations, Warehousing, Logistics or Business or related industry. Proven experience in an Operations role in the Fresh Produce and/or Food industry is beneficial.

- Strong understanding of produce handling and storage techniques
- Excellent reading, writing and communication skills
- Positive attitude, confidence and flexibility

- Strong intuitive thinking skills, ability to think outside the box
- Good computer skills including proficiency MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge of the food industry and supplier networks is a plus
