The Engineering Practice led by our Chief Engineer is made up of 400+ people covering roles such as Distinguished Engineers, Principal Engineers, Domain Leads, Chapter Leads and Engineers who have capabilities across 7 different Chapters (Development, Data, Technical Analysis, Testing, Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering and Security). As a Practice we provide Platforms and Tribes with the enduring Engineering capability to deliver on our business strategy. **About the role**: Being part of the Engineering Practice at ASB we encourage our teams to work autonomously in an agile way while actively growing their skills and expertise to continuously improve outcomes for our customers. You'll have the opportunity to get hands-on with some interesting and complex pieces of work that integrate on an enterprise scale, all while being part of a tight autonomous multi-disciplinary team of uber-talented Principal Engineers that drive engineering excellence across the organisation. **Key Responsibilities**: **Technical Leadership**: - Support the decision-making process for high-level technical design and ensure that the business bank systems programs align with ASB's technical strategies and roadmaps. - Act as the key escalation point for complex technical issues within the Business Bank workstream, providing expert guidance to swiftly resolve challenge on integration. - Support our Platform and DevOps team to ensure system stability and our delivery pipelines are operating efficiently to support demand - Work closely with our Integration squad and platform teams to deliver a very busy 18-month integration r - Support our Test Lead and community to ensure our Test Strategy is operational and Test Automation uplift continues to progress effectively **Strategic Roadmaps** - Collaborate with Architecture, Platforms, Technology Leadership and Discovery teams to shape and develop technical strategy and roadmaps specific to Integration with Salesforce and nCino - Collaborate with Architecture, Platforms, Technology Leadership and Discovery teams to ensure key capability and dependencies are being progressed/managed - Provide technical input and strategic direction to Tribe roadmaps, ensuring successful integration of key Business Bank systems with ASB's broader technology infrastructure. **Delivery Management**: - Partner closely with Program leadership to ensure technology implementation and delivery are aligned with business goals and timelines. **Production and Platform leadership**: - Ensure the reliability and stability of the production integration systems in the Business Bank workstream by offering support and technical leadership to the teams responsible for these systems **Engineering Best Practices**: - Champion robust engineering practices within the Business Bank work stream to ensure the delivery of quality solutions. - Regular engagement with Engineering (Dev, Test, SRA, Data) Chapter Leads to support any broader uplift required for our people **Continuous Improvement**: - Drive ongoing improvements in platform stability and performance, addressing technical debt and enhancing operational efficiency. **About you**: We'll value your proven initiative, problem solving abilities and ways in which you have shown leadership while performing your role. You will work collaboratively with other leaders across Technology and stakeholders to be the voice of Engineering particularly on our public cloud transformation journey. We are looking for someone who has: - A background as an Engineering leader or Architect and are a seasoned operator with experience coming out of a modern tech environment of scale - Experience working on Salesforce Integrations and developing RESTful APIs and ideally have been involved with Cloud transformations in the past - Mulesoft or Kong. - Experience with service mesh technologies such as Kong or Istio, proficiency in Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and event streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka. - Expert knowledge of Public Cloud providers like Azure or AWS and an understanding of Cloud security and governance required by large organisations - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships well with tech and non-tech people - Experience or knowledge in the lending process and systems would be a bonus **Working at ASB**: ASB's sense of who we are and what we stand for is grounded in our values.
