Immunology Lead/Biochemistry Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Part time permanent position
- Immunology Lead - 40 hours per fortnight (0.5 FTE) Monday to Friday (some work out of hours may be required)
- Biochemistry Medical Laboratory Scientist - 24 hours per fortnight (0.3 FTE) with participation in 24/7 roster

We currently have a vacancy for
- 0.5 FTE Immunology Technical Specialist in our Biochemistry/Immunology department - To view positon description please click here

Ideally these positions would be worked together as a 0.8 FTE role

In the Immunology role you will provide appropriate and timely Immunology testing, QC oversight and troubleshooting. In addition, and in conjunction with the Immunology Service Lead and the laboratory pathologist you will be responsible for the development, verification, validation and implementation of Immunology platforms and tests suitable for Te Whatu Ora Waitematā District.

You will assist with training and oversight of the laboratory scientists, technicians and students ensuring that standards and competencies are met.

The Biochemistry role is for a 24/7 laboratory scientist
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in Immunology
- Experience in the troubleshooting, development and introduction of Immunology tests
- Exposure to the implementation of Immunoassay platforms
- Experience in Biochemistry
- Experience in an acute 24/7 hospital laboratory

You will need to be motivated and focused with well-developed computer skills and the ability to research and introduce new technology.

The applicant must have:
- NZ registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with a current annual practising certificate- BMLS with Immunology specialisation or post graduate Immunology study- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Immunology- QC management experience- Ability to assist with staff training and supervise work carried out by laboratory technicians/assistants or graduate trainees
