UX Design Engineer

**Te Tūranga - The Role**:
Join our UX design team at Tait Communications in Christchurch and help shape the user experience of our web-based platforms from concept to delivery. Working alongside product managers, software engineers, and customers, you'll be the voice of the user-ensuring every product decision is rooted in customer needs.

From developing information architecture and workflows to crafting intuitive user interfaces, you'll bring clarity and usability to complex problems. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing technical and commercial considerations, and collaborating with a talented, passionate team to deliver solutions that make a real impact.

**In this role, you will**:

- Conduct user research and testing to understand needs, using both analytics and qualitative feedback to refine designs post-launch.
- Facilitate workshops and produce clear design artefacts-such as workflows, journey maps, and prototypes-to align teams and stakeholders on product vision.
- Deliver beautiful, accessible, and intuitive platform experiences, ideally with prior experience in platform development and deployment.
- Support rapid, iterative product development through pragmatic specifications, reusable design solutions, and data-informed improvement.
- Contribute to our design system by maintaining design tokens, component libraries, and scalable documentation.
- Embed ethical UX principles, keeping user privacy and data sensitivity at the forefront.
- Embrace experimentation, new tools, and ongoing learning in an agile, collaborative environment.

**Ō pūkenga - About You**:
You will have:

- A Bachelor's degree (NZQA Level 7) in a relevant field.
- Proven UX design experience for platform development and deployment, with a portfolio showcasing strong Figma skills.
- Confidence working in high-velocity environments, with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
- Solid understanding of component-based design, design tokens, and scalable design systems.
- Knowledge of WCAG standards, inclusive design, accessibility tools, and ethical UX practices.
- Ability to interpret analytics, A/B test results, and user feedback to drive product iteration.
- A collaborative mindset, supporting team goals and contributing to a positive culture.
