This role sits within the team Foreign Legion. It directly supports BNZs Open Banking APIs through enabling the delivery and maintenance of our critical APIs. These products serve both business and retail customers and are tightly integrated with open banking and regulatory standards. This role can be based in Wellington or Auckland. It is a hybrid role with Monday, Wednesday and Thursday as the team anchor days in the office. Mō te Tūranga | About the Role We sat down with the People Leader (who you would report to) and they told us the following about the role: What are day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? - Contributing to the teams ceremonies (standups, refinement, retros etc). - Building automation testing suites. - Collaborating with the Developers to understand their implementations. - Working with other Testers to build reusable testing patterns. - Working with the wider BNZ communities to understand the practices and standards in place. What is the team culture and environment like? Small but productive team who are very collaborative and friendly. - Testing apis that are being migrated to springboot. What technical skills are REQUIRED for this role? - 3+ years of hands-on experience in developing and maintaining automation frameworks. - Proficient in writing automated test cases using: Cucumber, RestAssured, Cypress, Playwright etc. - Ability to read, understand, and debug code for white-box testing. - Experienced in both manual and automated API testing using tools like Postman or Insomnia. - Proficient with version control systems such as Git. - Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban), with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. - Communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to influencing outcomes. - Committed to delivering high-quality results and continuously improving processes. Desirable: - Experience working in the banking or financial services industry. - Skilled in functional and exploratory manual testing. - Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or similar. - Comfortable working with Docker, cloud infrastructure, and infrastructure-as-code principles. - Understanding of API gateways/proxies such as Apigee or Kong.
