We’re completing the set up of Local Advisory Committees (LACs) across the country and we’re looking for a senior advisor to play a crucial role within our team. Local Advisory Committees LACs help Fire and Emergency understand community needs and support us to get our planning right at a local and national level. As senior advisor you’ll play a lead role providing secretariat and governance support to LACs.

**Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role**

This is a new and exciting initiative for FENZ as we complete establishing Local Advisory Committees (LACs) across the country, which will help us understand community needs and risks across Aotearoa. As one of two senior advisors supporting the first seven LACs you will be the key liaison between the LACs and Fire and Emergency. Developing and managing complex relationships and the flow of information and networking across multiple stakeholders, you’ll be responsible for advising and providing end to end support to LACs.

You’ll have the opportunity to make connections virtually and in person at quarterly regional meetings, where you’ll provide governance and secretariat support.

The LACs are being established across 16 regions and each will have a unique set of needs. You’ll be supporting LACs to develop and implement an annual work programme, engage effectively across a range of communities and key stakeholders and provide strategic advice and reporting to the FENZ Board. Working alongside the Chairs and Deputy Chairs you’ll be instrumental in assisting LACs to meet their strategic goals and legislative mandate requirements.

This is a permanent role and the salary range is $112,415-$124,906 per annum depending on your skills and experience with benefits including matched KiwiSaver employer contributions of up to 6%, life and income protection insurance, and a comprehensive Wellness programme.

Ideally you’ll have experience providing secretariat support to a statutory committee or board.
- To succeed in this role, you’ll be:_
- Politically savvy and able to navigate the machinery of government, governance structures and boards.
- An excellent communicator and presenter; experienced in developing papers and reports to an executive level
- Experienced in providing sound monitoring, reporting and evaluation across a programme of work and developing initiatives to improve effectiveness
- Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of tikanga and Te Ao Māori
- Skilled in facilitating community engagement and stakeholder relationships.
