Our National Water Business is seeking for an experienced **Senior Mechanical Engineer **to lead mechanical design for three waters projects (conveyance and treatment systems) and become an integral member of our water team delivering projects across New Zealand and the Pacific. This role can be based in any of our Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Hastings, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin offices.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Technical Leadership - Provide mechanical engineering and hydraulics technical input and leadership to projects.
- Delivery Excellence - Deliver high quality outputs with sound technical solutions in accordance with the project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Client Liaison - Develop good business relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Business Development - Develop new and repeat business, including preparation of proposals and bids for projects.
- Mentoring and Coaching - Provide guidance to junior and intermediate mechanical engineers.
- Knowledge - Keep knowledge and competencies current and contribute to GHD Global Knowledge Base.

**What you will bring to the team**:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering, or equivalent (consideration will be given to other qualifications where the applicant’s experience has a good fit with the job description).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the water industry and consulting environment.
- Detailed design of mechanical systems for water conveyance and treatment (e.g. pump stations, pressurised pipelines, and treatment plants).
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Competence in New Zealand Codes and Standards.
- Modelling/CAD (Revit/Autocad) experience/knowledge, either hands-on or in a leadership/coordination role.
- Ability to think laterally in delivering project solutions.
- Commercial acumen (delivery within budget and ability to recognise technical and project risks).
- An understanding of local government processes and practices.
- Ability to work in a team environment (both onsite and virtual), including with offshore resources.
