Principal Water Planning Engineer

**Job Description**:
AECOM is currently involved in several strategic infrastructure planning projects in the Waikato and the wider NZ business.
As a Principal Three Waters Planning Engineer you will have a strong focus on water and wastewater network planning but will also be able to support major drainage planning projects as well.
You will be able to work closely with clients on a collaborative basis, and with internal hydraulic modelers and designers to facilitate and influence how strategic water planning projects are delivered, while also being hands on.
This is an ideal opportunity for a suitably experienced engineer to develop their career and assist in the technical direction, future development and growth of the team.
Day to day responsibilities include:
Serving as lead planning engineer on strategic planning projects and the conceptual phases of design projects.
Providing technical expertise for strategic planning, options studies and business cases.
Developing and presenting complex but practical technical solutions to clients and the public.
Performing quality control reviews and verification of technical outputs developed by others.
Lead the interactions with clients and the development of technical proposals.
Providing estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on projects.
Supervising and mentoring junior team members.
**Qualifications**:
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
We are looking for a mature water/civil engineer with experience in design across all 3 waters and who has relevant local experience and established contacts
Minimum 8+ years’ relevant experience preferably in a consulting environment or a senior local government infrastructure planning role
Track record of leading successful infrastructure planning and/or modeling projectsStrong verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of hydraulic tools and the ability to input to approach and interpret outputs
Existing experience in the local market with an established client network is preferred
Collaborative approach to winning and delivering projects
A Degree in Engineering or Science (Civil, Environmental or similar), or equivalentCPEng status - desirable (or working towards)
