Waitemata District is the largest mental health provider in NZ with services for children, adult and older adult as well as specific services aimed at specialised populations including two regional services: Forensic Mental Health Service (Forensics) and Community Alcohol and Drugs Service (CADS).It has strong collaboration and partnerships with a number of Non-Government Organisations (NGO) and Primary Health Organisations (PHO) in the region.
With increased intake of new graduate nurses into the Specialty Mental Health and Addiction services, there is a need to have increased educator support within the programme. The addition of this permanent role will be focused on the recruitment, coordination and supervision of clinical placements and oversight of clinical learning sessions for the participants in the Mental Health Nursing New Entry to Specialty Practise Programme.
To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated and self-directed Registered Nurse with experience in supporting and mentoring nursing students. You will also have the following:
- A post graduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing
- A current Annual Practising Certificate
- A current professional development and recognition programme portfolio at level 3 or 4
- A minimum of three years nursing experience in the mental health and addictions sector
- Demonstrated Leadership as well as education / teaching skill
