**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**
We have a newly created Senior Customer Regulatory Specialist role in our Crown Property Group. This follows change implementation designed to bring us closer to our customers and take on more responsibility for property and land management. It is an exciting time to join us in supporting the responsible management and enhancement of Crown Land for existing and future generations.
As part of our collaborative team in Crown Property, you'll ensure that portfolios meet legislative and maintenance requirements. We also work extensively with Iwi on treaty settlement properties.
**The Assessment & Acquisition Team**
Our team is also responsible for triaging and responding to customer enquiries and plays a critical part in providing the connection between Crown Property and our valued customers.
This is our ‘work engine' so you will have previous experience excelling in a high-volume customer function, with statutory decision making. You will have a comprehensive understanding of system workflows and the importance of business processes.
In this role, you'll work with your peers to manage the operational day-to-day work distribution for our team, including being amongst it and undertaking some of the work yourself. You will be a support function and escalation point for the team - providing on-the-job coaching and working with the leader to support the teams growth and development. As we move through new ways of working, we anticipate there will be areas for improvement, so collaborating with others to see where and how efficiencies can be made for continuous improvement will be critical.
No two days are the same and the work is varied, so you'll need resilience, a positive mindset and willingness to be hands on where needed.
**He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience**
- 7-10 years relevant experience in a similar role in a high-volume customer focused environment.
- A strong understanding of government legislation and regulations surrounding land obligations including Resource Management Act 1991, Biosecurity Act 1993, Forests Act 1949 including national policy statements, local and regional authority legislation and regulations would be advantageous
Extensive experience in land management
- Significant experience in stakeholder engagement & relationship building; able to navigate difficult conversations with our customers whilst still maintaining a positive relationship.

**_You may notice that the Position Description title for this role (Customer Regulatory Specialist - Level Toru/ Three) doesn't match the advertised title. At Toitū Te Whenua we design our roles around shared capabilities (rather than focusing on tasks). This means our position descriptions are broad, one position description can cover many roles, this is known as Broad Based Role (BBR). Using BBR allows us to be responsive to our customers and to strengthen the connections across our organisation. It also gives us the flexibility to provide wider opportunities to our people, to further their careers._
