ABB’s medium voltage manufacturing facility at Henderson, Auckland, is a global factory with research and development responsibility for the ABB SafeLink gas insulated Ringmain switchgear. As Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for all stages of projects from the initial brief, through to the design & development, to the testing of prototypes, including final manufacture, implementation & post-implementation support & product maintenance of switchgear products. Reporting to Chief Technical Officer, you will prepare complete project documents and results, working within Electrification team in Henderson, New Zealand.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Performs a variety of tasks in the assigned area, from concepts and requirements through design, implementation, integration, and testing, maintenance and operations
- Leverages proficiency in own technical area to contribute innovative and creative ideas to R&D activities
- Ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements
- Ensuring safe working procedures and practices

**Your background**:

- Bachelors in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with MV switchgear including automation & control systems
- Understanding of SCADA control & protection systems
- Ability to write, validate, & troubleshoot code, e.g., PLC or RTU
- Familiar with design and compliance to the IEC 62271 series standards
- Product design experience including soildworks CAD skills
