**The role**

Our Technology and Data Directorate are looking for experienced System Engineers to join a supportive, technology-centric team based out of our brand-new Auckland data centre. You will play a part in supporting the technology across the Intelligence Community and provide an important service to the country with computing and technology. This role will provide you a great deal of variety in the work you do day-to-day, as well as opportunities to be involved in, and learn about a wide range of technologies in a very unique environment.

**Who we're looking for**

You will have some skills that we are definitely looking for such as:

- A passion for computing technology with some system admin skills
- A good understanding of the infrastructure required to support data centre facilities
- Relevant work experience, and hopefully some formal training like a tertiary qualification
- Enthusiasm for solving complex problems in a customer centric environment
- Enjoyment working in a broadly skilled, high functioning team

You might also have familiarity with some of the following areas that aren't essential but would definitely be useful:

- Installation and maintenance of a range of technical equipment
- High availability electrical supply installations
- Complex multi-server processing systems (design, deploy, support)
- Data centre support experience including racking, stacking and cabling
- Updating and production of system documentation
- Linux and Windows administration
- Operating building management systems

It would also be helpful for you to have some understanding of:

- Monitoring and alarm systems
- Mechanical systems such as chillers, generators and air handlers
- Working in a secure environment
- Engineering for resilience and reliability

**Before you apply**

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
