Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waitematā is the largest district in New Zealand providing services to a population of more than 640,000 and employing more than 8,000 people. We have two level two special care baby units at the North Shore and Waitakere sites. This role will include a significant proportion of level two neonatal care.

Inpatient Paediatric admissions are in the 32 bed Rangatira ward at Waitakere hospital and in our modern busy emergency department providing care to tamariki in a separate children’s emergency area.

We deliver outpatient clinics across hospital and community sites, including visiting clinics to the Rodney region. Involvement in Gateway clinics, Child Protection, Community paediatrics, and regional initiatives can be discussed with the successful applicant.

Our services are supportive, innovative, committed to teaching, and provide exposure to a diverse range of paediatric clinical experience. Opportunities to explore and contribute to areas of special interest are supported. We have a popular registrar rotation within the Auckland regional training scheme.

This role is very suitable for a newly qualified SMO, and we are able to support Paediatricians who are in their final year of training towards FRACP to compete their requirements.
