We are Te Whatu Ora-Auckland. We are part of Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

**About the Role**

We are seeking an experienced Paediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist to join our Paediatric Infectious Diseases service at Starship Child Health, working 0.45 FTE (12 hours per week, plus rostered on-call duties) in the first instance. The role is vacant since late April 2025.

You will join our dedicated multidisciplinary team of consultants and health professionals who are driven by providing a high quality clinical service. We provide care and treatment to New Zealand and Pacific children both at Starship and via a consultative service to Paediatricians throughout the country in which you would participate.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

Starship Child Health-Auckland provides the only comprehensive children’s hospital in the country, serving a population of approximately 1 million children. Starship Child Health is co-located with the adult hospital and provides a full complement of speciality paediatric medical and surgical services. The Paediatric Infectious Diseases service provides out-patient clinics in General Paediatric Infectious Diseases as well as dedicated clinics for children and families with HIV, TB and rheumatic fever. The service also provides clinical consultation to the National Refugee Service. Within Starship, the service provides input to the Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Units, the Blood and Cancer Service, including haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the national liver and kidney transplant services and is closely involved with the provision of an antimicrobial stewardship service. The service has close links to both the hospital microbiology laboratory and the Infection Prevention and Control service_. _

**About you**

You will also be involved in clinical teaching. A track record in research is strongly encouraged and there are opportunities for clinical research and collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Auckland. The department has a strong focus on advocacy with representation on many relevant regional and national committees in which there will be opportunities to partake. The service has a strong philosophy of quality improvement and innovation in healthcare delivery, in which you would be expected to contribute. Experience in delivering healthcare virtually will also be beneficial.
