Part-time (20 hours per week)
- An exciting new opportunity has become available to work as an Addictions Peer Support Worker, as part of our new Rotorua based Opioid Treatment Service. The roles present a real opportunity to make a positive difference.
- We are looking for someone who has had their own mental health or addictions journey through to recovery to support others on their own mental health & addictions journey. Our kai mahi (staff) all share a common goal of supporting tangata whai ora to live their best lives as independently as possible in the community. Lakes Opioid Treatment Service (LOTS) has a strong therapeutic approach and works in close partnership with the Lakes community addiction providers.
- Part time (up to 20 hours per week)
- Working business hours, Monday - Friday from 8am to 4:30pm
- Possibly participate in an on-call roster after hours and weekends
- As Addictions Peer Support Worker you may be:
- Supporting People with their recovery in their own home
- Connecting or reconnecting them with their whānau and natural supports.
- Accompanying people through their whakapapa journey
- Inspiring hope and recovery from addictions
- Empowering people to do the things they love, as independently as possible
- Support people with budgeting or other skills to help manage the cost of living crisis
- Attending appointments and advocating for people

- To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following:
- Able to build professional relationships with a wide range of people
- Applicants must be willing to obtain (if not already completed) an accredited New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing and Intensive Peer Support Training
- Be culturally respectful and non-judgmental.
- Ideally have knowledge of Maori tikanga and kawa or willing to learn
- Have good professional boundaries.
- You must hold a current full driver’s licence.
