**About the role**

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer - Environmental to join the Operational & Technical Service team based in Dairy Flat, Auckland.

This role offers you the opportunity to enjoy a diverse range of responsibilities from concept design to directing specialists through to controlling contracts and environmental studies that are predominantly associated with Landfills, Transfer Stations and other Waste Infrastructure.

Reporting to the Head of Environment and Consents, you will be responsible for the successful and safe delivery of environmental studies, site development projects and rehabilitation of landfills. Co-ordination of landfill environmental audits, landfill and transfer station monitoring programmes, contract management and tender management are part of the key areas to focus on in this position.

You will be required to prepare Project estimates and plans for environmental systems and infrastructure; coordinate Capital Expenditure Applications and, monitor expenditure against budget.

**About you**

We are looking for someone with the following skills and attributes:

- Tertiary qualification/s (BE or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or similar
- Experience in the civil / construction/ environmental engineering industry or environmental experience in the solid waste industry is desirable
- Skilled in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project) and familiar with the use of environmental monitoring equipment, and other civil modelling software
- You can work unsupervised and lead a team of Project Engineers and contractors on several multidisciplinary projects
- You will have strong time management and organisational skills, you’re a detailed person with good conceptual and analytical skills
- You have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Project management experience with a strong focus on Health and Safety
