As a **[Production Manager]**,** **you will:

Drive improvement in plant efficiencies, schedule adherence, quality, safety and environmental performance in order to improve business profitability and our relationships with internal and external customers.

Support the strategic direction to all the operational activities at the Auckland site.

Ensure the requirements of the site are met, with respect to EH&S, product quality, customer service, people development and that these are achieved at or below budgeted cost.

Lead change programs to deliver continuous improvement in levels of EH&S, business efficiencies and customer service..

**Key Responsibilities**

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
**EH&S**:
Ensure the production area is complaint with Company and legislative EH&S regulations and maintains ISO9001 and other accreditations within the PPG guidelines

Drive continuous improvement of the site EHMS and Environmental Performance

Implement and audit procedures and take corrective actions as necessary to minimize work related injuries, illnesses, exposures, losses of containment and unusual incidents

Maintain plant cleanliness in line with safety and PPG best practice requirements

**Production**

Lead and manage manufacturing initiatives in production area in accordance with company objectives to:
Drive and monitor production to achieve production targets

Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational performance

Achieve scorecard requirements across all aspects of safety, quality and conversion cost

Ensure the production outputs meet or exceed targets on daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis

Work effectively with the Supply Chain function to deliver efficient and effective production schedules and management of shut downs etc

**Financials**

Ensure production area is managed in a cost effective and efficient manner while working to a budget

Continually improve productivity and operational efficiency by minimizing waste, overtime and aids to manufacture to reduce unit costs

Effectively manage labour, overtime and the use of contractors within budget

Manage metrics include: OTIF, Stock Availability, Inventory Accuracy

Ensure compliance against PPG financial procedures

**Leadership**

Sustain and manage a strong performance culture in manufacturing with all levels of employees through communication processes, skill gap analysis and effective training solutions

Effectively communicate business goals, functional alignment and performance against these measures

Identify and implement improvement projects within the manufacturing environment

Drive best practice safety through leadership, compliance, 5S etc

Encourage behaviors that promote team effectiveness

Drive performance through highly visible shop floor presence

**People, Teamwork and Relationships**

Manage the day to day relationships with management, employees and trade union representatives

Establish and maintain close working relationship with the Manufacturing, Engineering, EH&S, Sales, Supply Chain and Technical departments

Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to deliver consistent quantity, quality and reliability of output\

Leads regular and effective discussions with teams through regular shop floor communication

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Build strong relationships with internal cross-functional teams and external agencies.
- Implement and maintain company policies and procedures.
- Promote a safe work environment.
- Perform role in accordance with PPG corporate values.
- Achieve goals as determined in the PLP
- Ad hoc duties

**Qualifications***
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline
- At least 5 years in industrial/production based role in leadership positions
- Demonstrated track record of performance in a similar role in a challenging environment
- Demonstrated change management experience both in manufacturing projects and cultural change
- Superb interpersonal skills that will allow him/her to overcome technical or relationship barriers and resistance to change
- A sound knowledge of Microsoft software packages, in particular, Excel & MS Access.
- Experience with lean initiatives including 5S, Visual Factory, continuous improvement etc
- Exposure to a unionized environment.
- Sound communication skill and an ability to lead a team environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage a range of tasks and responsibilities.
