**About the Role**

We are looking for individuals who can support our taangata whaiora and their whaanau during their admission period across our inpatient services.

Maaori are significantly represented across our services, which is why we are moving towards becoming a ‘culturally led, clinically underpinned’ service

Delivering excellent care in a culturally responsive manner, to support the best outcomes for Maaori is fundamental to our mahi.

Responsibilities of the role:

- To report observed changes in tangata whaiora’s health status to the registered health professional
- To have an understanding of potential/ actual risk factors and how to de-escalate and escalate to ensure the safety of our tāngata whaiora
- There is an expectation these roles will work across all shifts (morning, afternoon, night)

Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. - Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- A passion for making a difference to the lives of our tangata whaiora and whanau
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
