**About the Role**

The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides a comprehensive specialist multi-disciplinary mental health service to birthing parents who experience moderate to severe mental health-related issues during pregnancy and the post-partum period. You will be instrumental in the development of the Peer support role within the Perinatal Mental Health Service.

**About the Team**

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato Perinatal Mental Health is a specialised team that offers assessment, treatment and advice for women who have developed mental illness or have had previous mental illness during the perinatal period (during pregnancy or up to one year after the baby is born). You will be part of an interdisciplinary team including social workers, nurses, doctors, and psychologists. We aim to provide a supportive environment including supervision, mentoring and professional development.

**About you**

You will have a perinatal mental health and or addiction recovery journey and be passionate to use your lived experience to support others through their perinatal recovery. You will have excellent communication, networking and advocacy skills. You are resilient and able to work independently and as part of a team.

**Essential**
- Understanding of mental health perinatal recovery journeys.
- At least a Level 4 qualification in a related area, such as a Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing.
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action and a commitment to equitable outcome for our whaanau.
- Full NZ driver's licence
