- Permanent part time rostered shifts of 16 hour per week.

**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

In this role you will be supporting tāngata in our whare based in Tikipunga, Whangarei. This is a busy whare that has four residential tāngata, three of whom have part-time mahi. This is a tāngata directed whare that supports the principles of enabling good lives and independence. These tāngata have choice and control over their own lives in their own home so it’s essential as a support worker you understand this.

You will be part of a team with oversight supervision, ensuring daily routines are completed by visually checking and prompting where needed while facilitating a flat mate type environment where the tāngata share out the workload and discuss issues amongst themselves. Support workers in this whare listen for and observe opportunities to coach and mentor as required, support with medication, assist with financial management, schedule appointments and contact whanau to arrange home leave.

We work to a rotating 24/07 roster, typically the shifts are:

- 7am-3pm.
- 3pm-11pm.
- 11pm-7am (sleep over includes an additional allowance).
- 1pm-9pm.

The roster includes working days, evenings, sleepovers and weekends and this role is a permanent part time position working 16 hours per week.

**Ko wai koe | About You**

Ideally you will have a home and community service background however you may not have previous experience, but you enjoy supporting those around you in your own life, you are the ‘go to’ support person and you are naturally drawn to helping others.

You could also have significant life experience which includes caring for a loved one, raising a family; you may be tired of manual labour and looking for something more fulfilling; you may be retired or now able to work around other whanau commitments. You may even be studying and just starting out in your career.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience**

- Working with diversity;
- A wide range of communications skills;
- The ability to set goals and work towards them;
- A good level of physical fitness and mobility;
