Data privacy impacts everyone. Come and join us on the frontline as we work to safeguard New Zealander's personal information while enabling the ability to innovate safely. We are growing our Compliance and Enforcement team and have a number of opportunities for Senior Compliance Officers, Compliance Officers and Assistant Compliance Officers.
The Privacy Commissioner has a wide range of regulatory powers to influence positive behavior change and enforce compliance, to ensure that businesses and organisations comply with their privacy obligations under the Privacy Act 2020. This includes the ability to issue compliance notices, undertake investigations, and prosecute enforcement. Businesses and organisations have obligations to report to us and to notify affected individuals if things go wrong with the customer information they hold. The Compliance and Enforcement team spearheads our regulatory response both at an agency and system-wide level.

You must have the skills to effectively supervise, coach and mentor less experienced staff, and build compliance and enforcement capability. You will have the communications and relationship management skills to influence positive behaviour change and build strong and effective relationships with agency stakeholders. You will also have the knowledge, technical expertise and skills to actively support the Manager, Compliance and Enforcement with the leadership and management of the Commissioner's compliance and enforcement work.

Compliance Officer
