We are seeking a confident and experienced Studio Director to direct, produce, and operate camera in our dedicated multi-cam studio.

Your role will span the full production cycle: starting with briefs and client meetings, to pitching creative concepts, generating shooting schedules and managing everything from camera framing and lighting setups to live switching.

You will also support field productions and video editing during peak periods, making this an exciting, diverse and hands-on creative opportunity.

This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week).Position Description

As Studio Director, you are a decisive and adaptable professional who thrives under pressure. With a deep understanding of creative direction, multi-camera production, and post-production workflows, you’re just as comfortable behind the camera as you are collaborating with clients and directing performance on-set.

Your ability to communicate clearly, problem-solve on the fly, and manage multiple fast-paced projects makes you a trusted team member and creative leader. You're motivated by a passion for storytelling and high production standards, and bring a positive, solutions-focused mindset to every brief.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team**

Media Productions is a tight-knit team of experienced creatives producing customised video, motion graphics, and stills content for the University’s faculties and operations teams, as well as select external clients. Our work is incredibly diverse, spanning promo campaigns, docu-style storytelling, teaching and learning resources and Ted-talk inspired videos. We take pride in our collaborative culture and shared commitment to producing outstanding, authentic, purpose-driven content.
**Qualifications** Important Skills | Ngā Pūkenga Motuhake**

We’re looking for someone who brings:

- 7+ years’ experience producing, directing and shooting in fast-paced studio and location environments.
- Proven leadership in directing studio-based productions, including lighting, audio setup, camera operation and live mixing.
- Strong creative and technical skills across the full production lifecycle, including storyboarding, scripting, and editing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and experience with tools like After Effects, Photoshop, Frame.io and Artlist (preferred).
- Expertise in vision mixing and studio management.
- Experience using Sony PMW-400 studio cameras, FX6 and A74 (preferred).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team collaboration skills.
- Exceptional time management and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.

A tertiary qualification in Film & TV, Media, or Communications is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
