**About the role**

You will work closely with the Urban Design Lead and wider Council team to create innovative and sustainable designs for public spaces. With a background in landscape architecture, detailed design and implementation of public realm improvements, the Senior Urban Designer will lead the design of streetscape improvements in Lower Hutt's city centre. You will lead projects throughout all stages from scoping, to concept, community and business engagement, detailed design, tendering and construction.

This role requires excellent design, communication, and project management skills to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes within project timelines. This role is interesting and varied and offers excellent opportunities for professional and personal growth.

**About you**

We are seeking someone with the following:

- Current Registered Landscape Architect status
- Bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture
- At least 7 years of experience in Landscape Architecture / Urban Design, with a demonstrated ability to design and deliver complex streetscape projects
- Strong design skills and proficiency in relevant design software and tools, such as AutoCAD/ Vectorworks, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent communications skills, including the ability to present design ideas to stakeholders, and to write clear, concise documents and communications
- Familiarity with project management, contract management, health & safety legislation
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Understanding of local government workings and processes is desirable but not essential
