**Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity**

The Senior Advisor is responsible for assisting whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities to develop and implement initiatives that will enable them to achieve long-term economic and social development. The Senior Advisor will work with agencies, organisations and providers to assist them to improve their outcomes for Māori. The Senior Advisor will:

- Leads work with agencies, organisations, and providers to assist them to improve their outcomes for Māori.
- Acts as an effective conduit for information both into and out of Māori communities to support Māori initiatives.
- Manages and analyses information at a local level on Māori views, aspirations and experiences, to contribute to Te Puni Kōkiri policy thinking.
- Assists whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and communities to develop and implement initiatives that will enable them to achieve long-term economic and social development.
- Manages local level contractual arrangements and is a leader in the relationships held with stakeholders.
- Provides mentoring and coaching to Advisors in their region.
- Informs investment decisions in partnership with the Investment and Policy colleagues.

We're also looking for people who would be interested in expanding their knowledge, developing their skills, and who look to benefit from working across the organisation.
- An adaptable team player experienced in working in high performing physical and virtual cross functional teams.
- Passion for knowledge, open to learning new things and comfortable with a changing environment.
- Comfort in working in a tikanga/kaupapa Māori environment, a degree of fluency in Te Reo Māori is of benefit.
- Experience in working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities.
- Ability to identify, build and actively manage significant relationships, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Understand the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi to the work being undertaken.
- Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written.
- A clean full motor vehicle driver's licence.
- A can-do attitude.
- A willingness to continue your professional development, including taking part in the team's māhere reo (te reo Māori) journey.
