The Central Booking Unit (CBU) is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Booking Coordinator to join our team based at The Cowper Street Hub.
CBU co-ordinates the management of Non-Acute Services for both Outpatient and Operating Theatre activity for Te Whatu Ora Te Tai o Poutini. The position is Permanent Full Time, Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm.
We are looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude, has excellent time management skills is a self-motivator and can work autonomously. A high level of confidentiality is required as well as being able to communicate to a range of different audiences.
As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 5 /Profile 5B.

Administration and Clerical Pay Equity - Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the end to end process from tūroro (patient) referral receipt through to booking activity/ Follow up and discharge.
- Managing the tūroro (patient) waitlist
- Communicating with tūroro (patient) and whanau
- A High Level of patient privacy and confidentiality
- Manage the patient management system (IPM, HCS)
- Addressing enquiries and requests from both internal and external stakeholders
- Quality Improvements and Initiatives
- Collaboration with Internal Teams on Special Project Work
**Ko wai koe | About You**
This role would suit someone who is resilient, proactive and takes initiative. Ideally you should have administration and customer service experience. This role is tūroro (patient) facing and therefore we are looking for someone who is able to manage difficult situations and tāngata (people).
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
Your skills will include:
- Level 1-2 NCEA or equivalent (required passes in English and Math)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Be able to work as part of a Team
- Possess high level of initiative
- Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Responsibility and Accountability
- Ensure patient confidentiality at all times
**Desirable skills include**:
- Qualification in Medical Terminology
- Knowledge of iPM Patient Management Database
- Knowledge of HCS
- Knowledge and understanding of the Principles and Articles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Business Administration Qualifications Level 3 minimum, or equivalent
- Minimum of two years office experience preferably within the health sector
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology, a Certificate in Medical Terminology preferable
