About the role:
As part of the planning team, you will be involved in:
Strategic Advice

Guiding and developing the strategic planning and consenting approach for projects to manage planning, environmental and consenting risk.

Working with our project managers on the development and delivery of project programmes.

Influencing environmental and planning outcomes through a collaborative approach working with our clients and design teams through all stages of the development and delivery of projects.

Providing strategic and innovative planning advice and guidance to support potential bids.

Working closely with our internal and external clients to assist them in achieving their strategic and required outcomes and goals.

Statutory Processes

Liaising with and managing a wide variety of specialists and expert inputs to ensure the delivery of required outcomes related to planning and consenting matters.

Assisting with coordinating expert evidence reports and where required be a credible expert witness and act in accordance with the Code of Conduct of the Environment Court at Hearings.
Relationship, Client and Stakeholder Management

Assisting with key relationships, mana whenua forums/hui, stakeholder engagement, and communication related to resource management processes and development advisory.

Liaising with and reporting progress to Clients/stakeholders to ensure your advice, position and recommendations are properly represented.

Growing the business through your excellent interpersonal skills and responding to our client’s changing needs.
- About you:
We are seeking self-motivated Planners of all levels who value building enduring relationships with clients and colleagues. You will possess skills in infrastructure and/or environmental planning and a strong understanding of the NZ planning system and relevant legislation.
You will have excellent oral and written communication skills. A strong customer driven work ethic will underpin your expertise and will be among a range of skills that will assist you in building a strong profile within Mott MacDonald and among our clients, as you will interact with internal and external clients to form key relationships.
If this sounds like you, we'd also like you to have:
A relevant planning or environmental science degree.

Proven track record in district and regional planning (three-years plus experience);

Experience in a project environment, providing quality technical knowledge and judgement with ability to lead projects.

NZPI membership an advantage, but not essential.
