The NZ Marine Studies Centre is the public face of Marine Science at the University of Otago. Our mission is to foster understanding and appreciation of New Zealand's unique marine environment and responsibility towards its conservation. We do this to help every New Zealander develop an enduring understanding of, and interest in, New Zealand's marine realm through an interactive partnership with New Zealand's schools, communities and families.
The role - Te mahi
Applications are invited for the position of Professional Practice Fellow with the University of Otago's New Zealand Marine Studies Centre (NZMSC), based at the NZMSC in Portobello. The position involves leading the development and delivery of the NZMSC school education programme with a focus on primary schools.
The job will involve teaching field/laboratory based marine science programmes, development of educational resources and associated administrative duties.

The successful applicant should have a teaching diploma and recent experience teaching at primary school level.
Interest in the marine environment and science are essential, along with understanding of Te Ao Māori. Knowledge of te reo Māori and experience working with Māori and Pacific students would be an advantage.
The job also requires superior communication and organisational skills, and computer literacy.

This is a permanent, part-time (0.8 FTE) position, located in Dunedin. The salary for this position ranges from $66,942 to $78,258 per annum (pro-rata).
Some flexibility in working hours will be required as the job will require some weekend and evening work.
