**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity for an Allied Health Assistant to work as an integral member of the team. You will be working with patients, their whanau and staff in a community setting to carry out tasks under the delegation of Allied Health staff.

The work involves tasks such as:

- Supervising patients to go through their exercise/therapy programme as prescribed by a qualified physiotherapist.
- Helping patients to regain their independence with activities of daily living following medical illness/surgery.
- Cleaning, issuing, restocking/ordering of equipment such as walking aids and exercise equipment.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the running of the service.

Applicants must be physically able and have good written and verbal communication. They must be able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, prioritise work tasks, enjoy working with others and has a willing to learn new skills. We are looking for someone who is motivated and personable and previous healthcare and/or Allied Health experience is preferable.

The Physiotherapy service has approximately 90 staff including Physiotherapists, assistants and administrators that work across the large geographical area that is Te Whatu Ora, Waikato. We have staff based at Waikato Hospital, our secondary hospital in Thames and our 3 rural hospitals in Tokoroa, Te Kuiti and Taumaranui and across our many community bases in areas such as Morrinsville, Matamata, Cambridge, and Ngaruawahia.

Our vision is to provide quality physiotherapy care to promote, encourage and enable health, wellbeing and independence for the patients and Whanau in the communities we serve. Our mission is to ensure that patients receive excellence of care, that our staff are supported and trained to work and maintain levels of evidence based practice and that our service is equitable, efficient and effective in order to meet the needs of our patients and their Whanau. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, supportive team who are keen to grow and develop our staff.

**Mōu | About you**

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

- A positive and flexible attitude
- The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Very good written communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic/advanced computer and administration skills
- Have the ability to prioritise work tasks
- Full NZ drivers licence
- Previous experience working in healthcare is desirable
