We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator to join us in our mission of reimagining the healthcare experience for all.

As a **Database Administrator** at Orion Health, you will be part of an experienced team who provides world-class customer-focused services to our external customers and our internal teams. You will be involved in a range of tasks, including infrastructure management, database design, administration, performance tuning and monitoring, in addition to issue management, problem analysis and resolution.

Working with our talented development and testing teams, you will also be involved in release management, problem prevention and development of technical solutions related to software products and configuration for our projects and customers. As we are rapidly growing in size, you will have the opportunity to get stuck into other areas such as network management.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Automation of monitoring and alerting, review of database configuration, optimisation of database queries
- Maintain/support SQL Server and Oracle on AWS RDS
- Perform database upgrades and patching
- Optimise database queries
- Ensure best-practice administration as it relates to SaaS technologies, confidential data storage and data encryption
- Development of Service Level Objectives and Indicators, and supporting the process of collecting these metrics to measure success of the solution
- Provide expertise to our Application Support team on monitoring, scalability and reliability
- Provide input for capacity planning
- Continuous improvement of the health and stability of our environment through identification of areas for improvements

**What will you bring?**
- Experience: You have advanced experience with MS SQL and Linux administration (CentOS or RedHat).
- Skills: You are no stranger to GitLab/GitHub. Exposure to AWS, Puppet and Ansible is desirable, but AWS Cloudformation is a must You also have in-depth knowledge of scripting in Powershell or related languages.
- Characteristics: You are a logical thinker and thrive working in fast-paced environments. You also have excellent verbal and written communication.

The successful applicant will be based locally to our Auckland or Christchurch offices.
