Gardener - Franklin

This role is critical within our South Auckland-based team as our Revegetation Maintenance Person. Working on behalf of Auckland Council, Citycare Property maintains parks and reserves. This role will work to ensure that these areas are free of pest plant species and that areas planted with native species are well maintained. Pest plants can be invasive and harmful, so we want to attend to these before they spread within our reserves. This role will be based out of our Drury depot and will cover the Franklin area. The successful applicant must have passion for the community and interest in regenerating native bush areas.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

- Completing work on both a proactive, reactive and scheduled basis
- Ensuring that parks and reserves are kept free of pest plants including but not limited to moth plant, tobacco weed, gorse, convolvulus etc.
- Maintenance of planted areas of native plants; assisting with planting out areas of native plants

The successful applicant will have:

- A certificate in horticulture Level 4 or ability to work to achieve this
- Industry experience of 5 years (desirable)
- Full Class 1 driver licence
- Physical fitness
- Strong work ethic and great communication
- Friendly and approachable - you may interact with residents in the community
- Passion for the local community
- Right to work in New Zealand
- Pass a medical, drug and alcohol assessment
- Provide two reference check
