Auckland City, New Zealand RocketWerkz Studios Ltd Full time

**SENIOR C# GAME DEVELOPER**:
Auckland | NZD 90-130k Salary range | Programming

**A bit about us**
RocketWerkz is an ambitious PC video games studio based on Auckland’s waterfront in New Zealand. Founded by Dean Hall, creator of hit survival game DayZ, we are independently-run but have the backing of one of the world's largest games companies. Our open-world simulation and survival games _Icarus_ and _Stationeers _are out on Steam, and we have multiple projects in development including _Kitten Space Agency_.

**We need you**

We are looking for experienced C# Programmers who understand gameplay and game design to work on various PC games. You’ll be comfortable making games without a game engine, using RocketWerkz’s BRUTAL gamedev framework and libraries.

While other projects at the studio use Unity or Unreal Engine, our new games are being developed using our own tools. The BRUTAL framework allows programmers to focus on gameplay and game systems in C#, while accessing a suite of custom C++ libraries for scale, performance and control without the constraints of a game engine. It incorporates libraries such as Vulkan, IMGui, RakNet, physics systems and more. For many games, especially the genres we work in, this can be a faster and more robust development process.

**A day in the life**

Every day at Rocketwerkz is different, but here are a few things you can expect to do in your role:

- Rapidly prototype and develop game systems and gameplay in C#
- Implement and optimise graphics using our custom Vulkan renderer
- Continuously adapt code in response to gameplay and designer feedback
- Champion the game design, game systems and player experience
- Collaborate with game designers, project leads and tools developers
- Define technical requirements and write documentation
- Use C#, Rider, Github, and task management software
- Manage your own workload and work hours in consultation with the wider team

**To get this all done, we would like you to have**:

- Extensive experience in C# game development (ideally C#12+)
- Experience using the Vulkan graphics API or similar
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset with excellent communication
- 5+ years of software development or games industry experience
- A tertiary qualification (Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar) or equivalent industry experience

**We’d love it if you also have**:

- Experience with other graphics APIs or game engines
- A published game made without a game engine
- A portfolio of game projects

We think life at Rocketwerkz is pretty good, check out the perks and benefits of joining us **here**.

Hit **Apply**and if you’re the right fit we’ll be in touch to schedule a chat. Our recruitment process usually involves an online chat, a visit to our studio, maybe a paid programming test and reference checks.
