We have a full-time opportunity for a graduate or early career Mechatronics Engineer to join our Lumi Drug Scan Team at our Mount Albert Science Centre in Auckland. In this role, you'll support the development, testing and calibration of the hardware and software interface of the Lumi Drug Scan Service. This is an exciting opportunity towards a well-rounded growth by playing a key part in the development of an innovative science-based product.
This is an opportunity to draw on your expertise in mechatronics to prototype new solutions that maximise ESR's impact for our customers and communities.
**In this role you will be involved in**:
- Contributing to the design, planning, execution, and reporting of the development of Lumi hardware and software interface.
- Planning experiments, building prototypes, collecting data, analysing performance, and reporting results.
- Providing engineering input to the Lumi Team to plan, design, implement and support the mechatronic components of Lumi.
- Design fit for purpose solutions that meet performance, scalability, and resilience objectives.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
- Demonstrated capability in engineering development, assembly and testing.
- An understanding of linking product and software development processes.
- Hands on technical experience in debugging systems.
- Experience in transitioning products from prototype to production.
- Experience in working with related simulators like Pspice, Labview, Multisim.
- Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience of portable device engineering and spectral data would be beneficial.
Experience in a start-up or other early-stage projects would be highy advantageous.
