**ABOUT THE ROLE | Te tūranga mahi**

As a **Security Operations Specialist Lead**at Port of Auckland, you'll be at the forefront of safeguarding our digital environment. This is a key role within our Digital team, focused on implementing, managing, and continuously improving our security posture. You'll work collaboratively across teams and with external partners to proactively detect threats, respond to incidents, and embed best practices based on leading security frameworks.

You're a proactive, solutions-focused security professional with strong technical capabilities and a passion for protecting digital environments. You're not just technically skilled—you're also collaborative, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Ngā Haepapa Matua**
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of security policies and controls aligned with CIS frameworks.
- Manage threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen security operations.
- Conduct security assessments using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
- Design and deliver proof of concepts for new security solutions.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot tools like SIEM, XDR, and vulnerability scanners.
- Provide guidance on M365 and Azure security configurations.
- Review and advise on Firewall IDS/IPS rules.
- Deploy automated security response systems for efficient incident handling.
- Conduct penetration tests, audits, and forensic investigations.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving security threats and propose mitigation strategies.

**WHAT YOU NEED | Ngā pūkenga me te wheako**
- 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of frameworks like NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and OWASP.
- Hands-on experience with threat detection, incident response, and security automation.
- Proficiency with tools such as M365, SIEM, XDR, firewalls, and IDS/IPS.
- Experience with vulnerability management and security education initiatives.
- Solid understanding of cloud and hybrid environments, especially Azure.
- Experience in developing automated security response solutions.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or SSCP (preferred but not essential).

**Preferred Skills & Experience**:

- Experience with forensic investigations or red/blue team activities.
- Familiarity with zero trust architecture.
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline security.
