Pidgeon Contracting Ltd has been providing high quality civil engineering works in the Canterbury region for 40 years and is the first choice for many government or private construction projects in the North Canterbury area. Pidgeon has experienced huge growth since their inception in 1983, and today specialise in subdivisions, cycleways, footpaths, stormwater and car parks.
Working closely with the Managing Director and the Operations Manager, the Accounts & Office Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the financial and administration needs of the business. As part of this small team, you will enjoy a great work culture where a sense of humour is a must and where you are offered flexibility and autonomy to get the job done.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Managing the accounts payable and accounts receivable process using MYOB
- Monitoring overdue balances and following up debtors
- Processing payroll for 20 staff using the Smartly payroll system
- Daily bank reconciliations
- Managing the motor vehicle fleet, insurance renewals and credit card expenses
- General administration duties as required
To be considered, you will need to have previous experience in a similar role where you have been responsible for accounts administration and payroll and have taken ownership of these tasks. You will have the support of an external accounting firm, but you will need to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the accounts. You will be confident using MS Office products and accounting/payroll software.
