The Community Engagement Manager is a unique and vital role within Hato Hone St John. Reporting to the Regional Manager - Community Engagement, and under the strategic direction of the General Manager Community Engagement, you will act as the key relationship lead across the Central West District. Leading a high-performing team, you will oversee areas including North Waikato, Waipa King Country, and Bay of Plenty. Travel is required therefore a full clean driver's licence is essential.

A fundamental part of this role is to engage, empower and facilitate the Hato Hone St John vision to build stronger, healthier and more resilient communities. To achieve this, you will work with and through Area Committees, Community Health, and the wider Hato Hone St John to deliver high quality, sustainable health focused community development projects and initiatives. Hato Hone St John is a volunteer centric organisation, therefore, it is expected that you actively role model the importance of our volunteers through the promotion and integration of the Volunteer Sustainability strategy and Hato Hone St John recruitment and management approaches.

Key responsibilities include:

- Be the interface between Hato Hone St John and our Area Committees to engage with local communities to identify and promote existing Hato Hone St John programmes, and/or develop new initiatives based on community needs
- Develop collaborative approaches to local leadership, community support and partnerships
- Empower, equip and support Area Committees to deliver against agreed milestones
- Ensure Area Committees are evaluated for strategic alignment and performance
- Build and maintain proactive, constructive, and positive stakeholder relationships
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the wider Hato Hone St John and CH&E strategies, annual impact plans, budget and forecasting processes
- Provide effective leadership and ongoing development support to direct reports

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others
- Experience in community development and engagement, ideally across a geographically spread business unit
- An understanding and appreciation for the valuable contribution volunteering makes to building community capability and resilience
- Highly effective communication, active listening and relationship management skills
- Ability to adapt to changes quickly
- Effective time management and organisational skills, and an ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi is desirable
- Experience/exposure to working for a NFP would be an advantage, as would experience working closely with volunteers
- Good financial acumen
