We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Virology Molecular/COVID Unit is a high workload area that covers detection, viral load, genotyping, and drug resistance testing of a wide range of viruses on different clinical specimens. This Unit has had a significant contribution in SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing in New Zealand during the COVID pandemic.

This is a 0.6 FTE position. This position requires flexibility as you will be participating in a 24/7 roster and on-calls with the expectation to be available for early, afternoon and late shifts Monday -Sunday with appropriate rostered days off.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

You should be a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist and you will hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.

This role requires good communication skills and knowledge of analytical processes. You must have a strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and a can do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
