Auckland City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Students and Global EngagementAuckland
We are seeking an experienced mental health professional to join a vibrant and developing team of supportive colleagues who collaborate to ensure the students receive world-class mental health and wellbeing support during their studies. The main focus of the role is to support those people who themselves support students, but some direct short term student interaction is included as described in the Job Description.
We currently have a permanent full-time vacancy available on our Auckland campus, although the team works nationally from the campus on which they are based. The role has a specific focus on supporting Pacific staff and students, and assists in the provision of a responsive and effective pastoral care service that improves student success, retention, and experience for students across the three campuses and distance students, including those studying offshore
The Student Care team provides training and support to other university staff who are managing student wellbeing or emotional distress and unwellness. These colleagues include academics, accommodation and clinical colleagues. It is multifaceted role including health promotion, collaboration with other university teams, developing and facilitating wellbeing workshops for tauira and kaimahi as well as and one to one, brief support to tauira who are referred to our service. It requires a specialised skill set for those with experience in the clinical mental health field, to provide sound and thorough assessment, brief support and onwards referrals.
As part of a supportive group of professionals, this challenging role requires a person with a Social Work, Counselling, Mental Health, Nursing or related professional qualification and experience working with our demographic. Although this is not primarily a clinical role, it does require a clinical background and provides opportunities for personal and professional growth in a well-functioning and supportive team environment.
The employment setting will involve work with people across the lifespan and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children's Workers) Regulations 2015.
