New Zealand Knaggs Construction Full time

**Prerequisite**:

- Physically fit
- Team player
- Own transport
- Eligible to work in NZ
- Has spent 12months with the company (or evidence that they are suitably competent for the role)
- Must be trained and assessed by Workshop Manager or their representative and deemed competent to operate machines

**Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities**:

- Demonstratable good written and verbal comprehension and communication skills
- Has or is undertaking a certificate level qualification in a relevant construction industry discipline (or willingness to undertake)
- Site Safe Passport (or willingness to undertake)
- Full Class 4 Vehicle License (or willingness to undertake)
- Wheels, Tracks, Rollers endorsement (or willingness to undertake)

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Operate a variety of plant including excavators, bulldozers, rollers, tractors, watercarts, and 4-wheeler tippers to a high standard (e.g. capable of finishing works such as hotmix prep, cutting platforms) safely, efficiently, effectively, and responsibly in a manner which prolongs the life of the plant to assist in achieving project requirements
- Daily maintenance and prestart inspection of civil and earthworks plant
- Work from construction drawings and survey marks
- Productively undertake a variety of civil construction and general labouring tasks to assist in achieving project requirements to the highest standard with regard to H&S, Quality, Environmental Impact, Cost, Delivery, and Reputation
- Work safely and responsibly
- Provide technical expertise to develop industry skills in other team members through on the job and in-house training
- Take responsibility for presentation and conduct
- Comply with company and legislative rules and regulations including health and safety, environmental, quality, team member and project performance reporting, recording and admin, care of equipment
- Collaborate with supervisory staff, team members and subcontractors
- Fulfill any specialist role for which qualification, skillset and experience is possessed as required
- Collaborate with senior team members and management to achieve the above objectives

- Transition to specialist by developing technical skills and mechanical knowledge
- Have a positive influence on team members

The Machine Operator role should be considered as a specialist role and a stepping-stone to a Grader Operator, Workshop Assistant, or Leading Hand role. The Machine Operator should actively seek out, build on, and exercise current technical knowledge and skill

Hourly rates from $28-34 (estimated $58,240-$100,776 annually) based on skill, experience, and attitude

Headquartered in East Tamaki, role is site based with projects throughout Auckland and North

Guaranteed minimum 40hr week, typically 50-57hrs per week
