Hours to work 30- 40 hours per week

Sewing machinists are required who can use electronic or computerised sewing machines to stitch pieces of fabric together to make clothes, upholstery or other items. Fabrics can range from thin silk to industrial canvas or leather.

You job duties include below mentioned tasks:

- You will have to meet deadlines for the orders or set by employer or customer
- making all or part of a garment or other fabric items as described by Manager or director
- following instructions for each sewing job
- using a range of machine programs and machines, such as over lockers, hemming and bar tackers, to carry out a range of tasks and produce different finishes
- guiding the material through the machine, correcting any mistakes
- altering machine settings to suit the type of material and finish required
- checking that a finished article matches the pattern instructions
- oiling and cleaning your machine
- use different sewing methods
- must know how to check needle sizes and machine-threading techniques
- use different types of sewing equipment and fabrics
- practical skills for cleaning and maintaining sewing machines.
- Working with designers and pattern cutters to make up samples of new styles for buyers or as per ordering to meet customer requirements.

Other Requirements
- You need to work in a factory or workshop.
- You will spend most of the day sitting down.
- The work can be repetitive and conditions can be noisy.
- You may have to work shifts and sometimes do overtime. The overtime will be paid at the same offered pay rate.

Skills and Qualification
- At least 6 months - of relevant work experience is preferred regardless commercial or household.

**Job Types**: Permanent, Full-time

**Salary**: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Shift work
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Auckland City, Auckland: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
