**About the role**:
We’re seeking experienced **Quality Engineering Consultants**to join our growing Wellington practice.
As a Senior Consultant, you’ll lead large teams and deliver specialist technical and quality-testing solutions in highly complex environments, consistently on time and within budget while exceeding client expectations. You act as a trusted senior advisor—shaping quality and testing across the full lifecycle, engaging proactively with C-level stakeholders, and championing Planit’s standards, values, and culture.
You’ll track and report key metrics, recommend and leverage advanced tooling, develop reusable frameworks, and support business growth through tenders and proposals. As a role model, you’ll mentor teams, drive continuous learning through presentations and articles, and flexibly adapt work modes to meet client and Planit needs.
**Responsibilities**:
**Functional Testing**
- **Test Management**
Own enterprise test strategy - steer large, complex programs, rescue at-risk projects, run risk workshops, and guarantee on-time, on-budget delivery with top-tier quality.
- **Leadership**
Inspire and mentor cross-functional testing teams to smash objectives and grow their skills.
- **Test Analysis & Design**
Define and enforce best-in-class test design processes, ensuring bulletproof coverage and consistency.
- **Test Execution**
Command end-to-end execution—align scope, schedule, and budget for flawless delivery.
- **Defect Management**
Lead defect triage and deep-dive root-cause analysis to drive relentless quality improvements.
- **Optimisation**
Spearhead test-process transformations, unlocking efficiency gains and measurable ROI.
**Quality Engineering**
- **Quality Engineering Management**
Architect enterprise-wide quality policies - embed automation and non-functional testing early, and run lifecycle-wide risk workshops.
- **Quality Engineering Practices**
Establish robust reviews, inspections, automation, continuous testing, and audits to build quality into every phase.
- **Optimisation**
Drive full-lifecycle delivery enhancements, elevating quality engineering across the organisation.
**What You’ll Need to Be Successful**:
- Ability to collaboratively lead and coach developers and other project members
- Possess in-depth experience as a senior test engineer in all areas of the SDLC
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Strong test experience in all areas of the SDLC, including system, SIT or UAT
- Collaborating with developers, business analysts and users to understand testing needs and identify automation opportunities
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of test quality by undertaking reviews and recommending improvements
